He is now more motivated to study. May be because I've changed my approach. Not just accusing him for his bad results in his final exam, but more on trying to understand his weeknesses. I must tell you that it is not easy to switch your anger, concern etc to a soft, calm approach when dealing with a teenager like him. But it pays!
Somehow, it takes a lot of give and take...spending a lot of time together and talking to each other in a friendly manner. Initially, he was not comfortable when we took him everywhere we go, involved him in everything we do and anything we discuss. Most of the time, he mentioned about his friends and how enjoyable he was when with them... and how boring he was when with us.. sob sob..upsetting right? Anyway, we tried not to get upset easily. After few occasions, he becomes more attentive, relax and enjoy our time together. Alhamdulillah...
We are now trying to make him understand the need to focus on his SPM 2011, improve his weaknesses and get the best out of him. I'll share these in my next posting..
